Greensburg — Don and Ruth Widau celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 30 at HighPoint Orchard in Greensburg. Don and the former Ruth Ann Smelser were married July 30, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond. They began their married life in Chicago area, where Don made food for the astronauts at Swift & Co Research Lab and Ruth taught math at Joliet High School. Halderman Farm Mgt. brought them to Greensburg in 1966, where Don has continued in agri-business and farming and Ruth taught math at Shelbyville High School. They have two children, John (Jackie) Widau of Avon and Lisa (Rick) Laws of Crestwood, Ky., and six grandchildren: Lauren, Becca, and Brendon Widau and Erika, Olivia, and Spencer Laws.
