Greensburg —
The North Decatur FFA Livestock Evaluation team competed in the Indiana State FFA/4-H Livestock Evaluation Contest May 19 at Purdue University.
The team of Kaleb Kramer, Andrew Martin, Lindsey Wietlisbach and Justin Geis placed 14th in the state competition.
During the competition the contestants evaluated 12 classes of livestock for their market and reproductive capabilities.
The animals were evaluated both visually and utilizing performance data on the animals.Ê Following the visual appraisal the contestants then presented "oral reasons" to the contest officials over their decisions.
To qualify for the state contest the teams must first qualify at their respective area contest.Ê The North Decatur FFA team won the Area I Competition in April.
Kramer was the individual winner of the area contest which featured over 30 teams from Southeastern Indiana.
